Gianfranco Zola insists Birmingham City are doing everything they can to eradicate the defensive slips which cost Blues in their 3-1 defeat to Leeds.
The Birmingham manager says he talked his players through Leeds’ goals, both on video and on the pitch, which he believes undermined a largely positive display last Friday.
Zola dedicated time during Monday morning’s training session to reviewing those issues with a view to being better in tonight’s game with Wigan.
“We’re still making mistakes at both ends of the pitch. We had a couple of times where if we’d been a bit more precise we would have scored a goal,” Zola said.
“But also defensively there were some individual mistakes. We know. But if as a coach you analyse the game, and if you make a mistake as the whole defence, then you have a problem because it means you need to work a little bit more on the team.
“But when you have some individual mistakes it’s more difficult because you can change them or try to teach them.
“But because in my opinion they play good games, I will to try and show them and analyse which we have been doing this morning going through the goals and analyse them and try to give them the reason why the mistake came and hopefully the next one they are going to be better.
“The problem is when you play every three days you can only do so much. We always go through the mistakes and try to correct them.”
Blues will be looking for their third win – and third clean sheet against Wigan this evening.
