The Liverpool coach arrives before the match against Everton

Everton boss Ronald Koeman has shown faith in 22-year-old defender Matthew Pennington for today’s Merseyside at Anfield.

It’s the young England man’s first appearance of the season for the Toffees and he faces the unenviable challenge of trying to contain a Liverpool attacking force that includes Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino, and Sadio Mane.

The latter has gotten the Reds off to a flying start at Anfield after breaking the deadlock on seven minutes with a brilliant left-footed strike from outside the box.

Everton pulled a goal back when Matthew Pennington scored his first goal for the Toffees, prodding ball home from just outside the six-yard box, however, Coutinho quickly restored the hosts lead when he netted Liverpool’s second goal of the game with a superb individual effort, beating multiple defenders before curling the ball inside the far post and into the back of the net.
